We took a trip up to Liverpool for the fabulous event that is BeerX. As well as catching up with suppliers and finding out the latest goings on in craft Brewing, there was the small matter of some awards...

We were humbled by the quality of beers on display from @societyofindependentbrewers members from across the country, and elated when Midnight Pete, our Black IPA (originally a collab with @theparkbrewery) grabbed a National Gold Award in its category, and was voted 3rd best keg overall.

As if that wasn't enough, Padstow Pilot and Shallow End came home with National Silver Awards.

You can taste Midnight Pete on keg in @padstowtastingrooms (while it lasts!) And grab Pilot and Shallow End online, in the Tasting Rooms or in your local establishment (I hear Shallow End tastes particularly fine in the @thequarryman )

We've been busy building up stocks for the summer and avoiding the apocalyptic weather.

It hasn't stopped us producing a fantastic new beer though. Our Vienna lager has been sneakily available for a few weeks now and is getting great feedback. It's clean, crisp but well rounded thanks to the characterful malts we used to give colour and flavour to this classic lager style.

We've been taking a well-deserved (we think!) time out over Christmas - usual service resumes next week.

So all that remains to do is to thank - from our beery hearts - everyone who has supported us throughout 2023 - from our wonderful trade customers, buying beer by the keg, cask or case, to anyone who has grabbed a bottle or can of our beer, every single transaction has contributed to us getting through a challenging but rewarding year. Our 500th brew, Connors Stout was an 11% Imperial Stout. Now aged for 4 years in a red wine barrel, it has only developed in flavour and intensity - its a fantastic beer and perfect for this time of year - as a gift or to open with a special person and share a moment in time.

It was a real pleasure to work with @bluntrockbrewery to get this beer packaged - it's come full circle as George from Bluntrock and our Simon worked together on the original beer here at Padstow and had the idea to age a small amount of it, so its a real treat to work with them again and see the project come to fruition.
